What is detoxification?

Detoxification is the process of cleansing the blood. The detoxification process is built around resting, cleansing, and nourishing the body from the ground up. The body has a natural cleaning process using the liver to remove toxins from the blood and process them for elimination. Other organs such as the kidneys, lungs, and intestines are also part of the body’s natural detoxification system and process. With detoxification, the goal is to assist the body in removing the excess toxins that we come into contact with every day. Detoxification is a great way to help recharge and rejuvenate the body.

How does detoxification work?

A detoxification treatment plan is built around assisting the body’s natural detoxification process. Toxins come in all shapes and forms, and we want to fully eliminate the toxins from our system by supporting our body in the process. By eliminating food and beverage choices such as coffee, alcohol, refined sugars and unneeded fats, we can greatly help our body detoxify. You can also reduce the amount of chemical-based products that you come into contact with and even find natural alternatives for personal health care products.

Managing nutrition during a detoxification

During the detoxification program, we will work to limit your intake of unneeded toxins. Eliminating these toxins from your diet and environment helps ease your body’s natural processes. It’s important to note that detoxing is different than fasting. In fasting, you are only consuming water, but with a detox, you are still consuming food and drinks, but simply making sure that those choices are as natural and healthy as they can be. With those goals in mind, adjusting your diet during your detoxification is essential.

Adding in healthy sources of fats and oils such as coconut oil will provide the energy your body needs for detoxification. Fiber is another nutrient that we recommend you focus on consuming more of during your detox. Getting plenty of fruits and vegetables will serve as high sources of fiber that will keep you in good health as you detox. If you are looking for other ways of boosting your nutrients, you can always try our IV nutrition therapy. IV nutrition therapy can help cleanse your liver and other organs by providing high levels of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that these organs may normally be lacking.
